Gothic in fashion

Milan 2012 fashion week:

'Gucci was all about dark glamour and modern romanticism. It alluded to the decadence of the 19th Century as well as a classic gothic influence. There was a really edgy look to it and each piece was just so stunning. There was velvet, lace, feathers and sheer silk fabrics in colours such as deep red, black and grey. Another top show for fashion week'

Autumn Winter 2012 Trend Report – Gothic Glamour
'Fashion has taken a Gothic turn for Autumn Winter 2012 with the fashion set embracing styles that create dark drama. Fusing a
strict colour palette of black with seductive sheer panelspeek-a-boo cut outs, lace detailing and theatrical silhouettes this trend is
for the girl who isn’t afraid to venture into the dark side.
... deep crimson lips, heavily lined eyes and a statement accessory such as [a spiked] clutch bag.'

2014 fashions:

'Romantic gothic seems to be one of the most influential moods for the season. Linked to a dreamy and dark way to approach, not only garments, but a wider idea of lifestyle, romantic gothic represents the most tender aspect of raw gothic culture. When talking about fabrics, the main characteristics are lace and velvet, while other iconic elements include corsets and ornaments. A big passion for mystery, poetry and Victorian age must be added to complete the vision.'
'[Fashion Weeks showed] floral prints, mini dresses, metallic coats, with a strong focus on what is, in a way, mystic and intriguing (designer: Erdem).'
'all about dark tones: transparency, flowers designed black on black, white skin contrasted by long black dresses.'
